Ah, we're back from our trip to Disney World. It's only been a few short weeks since my family completely SHOCKED me with a completely planned out trip to Disney World for Brandon and me. I am so hard to surprise (and B is horrible at keeping secrets) so I was shocked that they all knew since September that they were going to send me to Disney this month.
Y'all, it was probably one of the best trips I've ever taken. It was SO relaxing and extra magical.
It was a super foggy, gray morning when my dad drove us to the airport, but I was ready to go. I grabbed a smoothie from Jamba Juice + before I knew it, we were on our way. The flight was super smooth and I read on Brandon's Kindle the entire way down...which you know is a huge accomplishment for me.
We arrived in sunny 80 degree weather with blue skies. It was the best. It took us a while to find it, but we hopped on Disney's Magical Express, which is a bus that takes you from the airport to your resort. Since we were staying at a resort, we had Disney take care of our checked luggage, which showed up at our resort 3 hours after we landed. It was glorious not having to wait for our suitcase.
We stayed at the All-Star Movies Resort...and could it be any cuter? I love that we were in the Love Bug section of the resort since I loved watching old Herbie movies growing up and I had a white VW bug for years that I called my love bug.
We were starving so we dropped our carry-on (and winter jackets) in our room and headed straight to the food court at our resort. It was all movie themed--and oh, so cute! I loved finding this picture of Lizzie McGuire on the wall. I got a salad and loved that they had a whole allergy friendly section of their food court. I got an allergy friendly cookie and felt like I was home. I'm telling you, if you have food allergies, Disney gets you. You can actually eat like a NORMAL person here. It's MAGICAL.
I told Brandon that since it was so warm out and it's freezing back home, I wanted to swim-- no matter the cost. As soon as our suitcase arrived at our room, we threw on our swimsuits and headed out to the Fantasia themed swimming pool. I kid you not, they were having a dance party and playing SIA when we walked up. I almost cried.
It was kinda breezy so I only lasted about 30 minutes in the water, so we headed back to the room, showered and put on some nicer clothes so we could head to Disney Springs. Formally Downtown Disney, I hadn't been here since they renovated everything. It is INCREDIBLE. It's so huge that it's overwhelming. Last time I was here, we went to Raglan Road for dinner and it was the best dinner I ever had. Plus, having Irish danced for years as a kid, I love getting a chance to see the Irish dancing performance during dinner.. takes me back to my days of ringlet curls and trying to practice that slip jig.
We wandered around Disney Springs, popping in and out of stores and soaking up the awesome weather. We noticed these amphicars in the water-- it's a car that's also a boat and it's so cute! I had to Face Time my dad and show him. My parents are celebrating their 25th anniversary with a trip to Disney in May and I told him I would scope out all the must-do's for them.
No surprise, we had an amazing meal at Raglan Road. They were so accommodating, we had a fantastic waitress and we used the Disney Dining Plan, which provided us with a non-alcoholic beverage, an entree, and a dessert. I was STUFFED. My favorite was this dairy-free chocolate cake with berries and chocolate sauce. YUM.
Why We Love the All-Star Movies Resort:
The price // For $93 a night, you're getting amazing resort quality for a super low price. We aren't sure why anyone wouldn't want to stay here!
The location// We found that our resort happened to be super close to the parks and took us less than 10 minutes to get to Hollywood Studios and Epcot. The buses pick up right outside our resort and there was rarely a wait.
The quality // At the end of the day, this is still a Disney resort, so you're going to find amazing customer service and perks. The people at the front desk went above and beyond anything we asked them to. The food court was amazing and the food was great. There's an arcade, two amazing pools, walking trails, a Disney store, and tons of amazing photo opps.
The details // I'm a 90's kid and the details of this place just made my heart soar. The different sections of the resort were themed-- Toy Story, Fantasia, Mighty Ducks, 101 Dalmations, and ours-- Love Bug. I mean, come on! Some might say this resort needs to be updated, but we love the preservation of the peak of Disney, which was the 90's (at least, for us!)
We got back to our resort around 10:00 PM and I just couldn't handle the excitement. I was in my Disney Princess PJs (which are totally acceptable as an adult) with my Mickey ears, sipping (decaf) tea from our resort mug.
