I've been teasing on social media and here on the blog that there are some changes happening around here. I'm SUPER excited about it, and I REALLY hope you will be, too! I personally hate change, but I think this will be one that is REALLY good! (:
What's changing around here:
1. The Free & Wild Blog originally started as a place where I could dump my random thoughts, connect with others, share life tips, recap vacations and journal what's happening in my life. I love being able to look back at certain times of my life. However, FWB is finding it's niche.
I've been on a life journey for a while now where I am trying to pursue the healthiest and simplest lifestyle I can. You all have been here as I pursue veganism and minimalism and while I try to battle anxiety and depression. This past year, I've adopted a life motto that has stuck:
Live with less, so you can live more.
Live with less clutter so you can live with more peace. Live with less animal products so you can live with more health and more compassion. Live with less mindless obligations so you can live with more purposeful time. Live with less negative relationships so you can live with more positive ones. Live with less envy so you can live with more gratitude. Live with less of yourself so you can live with more of serving others.
So what does this mean?
It means that FWB is going to be a place where you can come to find out how to practically change your life...and the world, in the process. Here, you're going to find resources and posts that encourage you to live your best life...by living with less so you can live more.
Here, you'll find posts on: how to declutter your house and your life, how to save money in practical ways so you can stop mindless spending, how to add Meatless Monday meals into your weekly routines, how to find natural remedies that are affordable, practical and actually work, how to pursue things that matter like relationships and goals, how to stay motivated to live your best life, how to reduce the amount of waste you produce, how to go green (without becoming a crunchy hippie), how to help other people around the world, how to pass kindness on to others.
At the end of the day, FWB is a place for REAL people...people who don't think twice about whether they live eco-friendly or not...people who swear they could never go meatless....people who don't have a budget...people who have a closet full of clothes they never wear but can't seem to get rid of....people who want to make the world a better place but have no clue where to start.
I am on this journey too. I'm a normal person with a normal life. I don't live in an all-white decor tiny house. I don't compost (yet!). I still use shampoo and shower regularly. I shop at normal grocery stores and I kill every plant I encounter.
This blog is a space for people like you and me. People who don't the first thing about changing the world but have a desire to make the world a better place. Because it's okay...we're gonna do it TOGETHER.
This is a no-judgment zone. If you eat meat, but have questions about vegetarianism, I'm your girl. If you think environmentalism is for hippie liberals, but you're tired of living with a cluttered house, I'm here for you.
I hope that even if you have no interest in this subject matter that you still stick around. You have no idea what you might relate to, or find interest in. I promise there is something for you here.
As if that wasn't a big enough announcement, here comes a second one...
Most of you are familiar with my husband, Brandon. He's great and for a year now, he's been working behind the scenes on FWB with me. Well, he's joining the FWB team for now, as we want this blog, and lifestyle, to be accessible to everyone-- that includes the fellas, too!
Not much will change in this regard around here. You'll still get posts from me, Annie, on a regular basis. However, you may see Brandon's face around here more often. I can't wait for you to get to know him more personally!
Whew....that was A LOT. We still have some more surprises up our sleeves, but for now, we're just gonna let all this simmer. Let us know what you think about the changes in the comments below!
