I hope you're enjoying this Road Trip Week on the blog! I am loving talking about road trips so much. It's making me so excited for the road trip we have planned coming up! We'll be venturing from Baltimore to Ohio, and I can't wait! If you're planning a road trip, I hope you follow these tips to help you prep like a pro!
Clean your car
You want to make sure that you wont' be stuck in a dirty car during your road trip. Use some car wipes to wipe down the dashboard, steering wheel and other surfaces. Remember to vacuum too!
Recycle a plastic bag as a trash can
Make sure your car doesn't get messy again on your trip but placing one handle of the plastic bag through one of the bars of your head rest. This may not work for all headrests, so if this doesn't work for you, another option is to use a plastic cereal container and put a plastic bag inside for a makeshift trashcan.
Remember cash for tolls!
I like to stash away a few bucks in my glove box on road trips in case we accidentally run into a toll. I don't want to be stuck or in a panic so I puck a couple dollars in the glove box, just in case! It's saved me a few times too!
Tip: Place utensils in the glove box!
As a bonus tip, I like to place some plastic spoons and forks, as well as straws and napkins in the glove box, because eating on the road means you'll never know when you could use some utensils!
Pack some snacks
We love trail mix and other foods that won't go bad in the car. I like to pack them so that we always have a quick snack so we don't have to stop if we don't need or want to!
Get your oil changed
Guys, this is the MOST IMPORTANT step in preparing for a road trip. You have to make sure that your car is ready to handle the amount of driving. For our upcoming road trip, I am using
Pennzoil® High Mileage Vehicle® oil for my car, since my car is older and over 75,000 miles. Pennzoil cleans out the sludge that other oils leave behind. Since my car is older, I love that Pennzoil® High Mileage Vehicle® specifically targets reducing leaks and oil consumption on older or worn engines. That really gives me some peace of mind while traveling.
For this upcoming road trip we're taking, I went to Walmart's Automotive Care Center to get my oil changed. It was super convenient because while the car is getting worked on, you can shop for all those road trip essentials (like snacks!) Not only do you save time, but money as well! (If you're looking to save money, you are going to LOVE tomorrow's post!) If you shop between now and September 28, 2016, Hile Mileage oil change is on Rollback for only $35.88
